Ford Maverick Mod: The Short Antenna

The stock antenna of the 2022-2023 Ford Maverick really isn’t that long when you compare it to a traditional vehicle antenna. It’s 8-inches. Compare that to my old F-150 at 32 inches. But still, I wanted to reduce it because I don’t care about reception: FM, AM, or even SiriusXM. I stream all my music and wanted more of an antenna delete. Just a little nubbin’.

After doing some research I stumbled upon the Stubby Jr. Antenna from CravenSpeed. Even though it’s listed as being for a Ford Ranger, if you check the reviews you’ll find a few happy Maverick owners. I ordered it for $20 and two days later it was here. It took my 8-inch stock antenna down to 2 inches!

Installation literally took 30 seconds. My stock antenna wasn’t even screwed in that tightly. I was amazed how easy it was to unscrew (no effort required). I took his stubbiness out of the box and screwed it in. The adapter fit perfectly just like the stock antenna. That was it.

Aside from the 6-inch protrusion reduction, the product itself looks amazing, and appears to be made extremely well–and it’s made in the USA! I’ll update this post in the future should I have any issues with it. It is perfect for what I wanted: to reduce the length down to an aesthetically pleasing look that fits the roof mount for it.

So, how is the reception? Like I said earlier, I don’t care about reception because I never listen to radio. But those times when my Maverick does pick up AM or FM radio, it seems to pick up terrestrial radio singles without fail. I have listened to local music stations while driving around without any issues. The shorter antenna might prove to be more challenging in some areas, but hasn’t been an issue for me.

Here are a few before and after photos.

Did you test it out yet? Review is not worth anything without knowing if the product works.

My review is based on the perspective of my need to delete the long stock antenna. So I disagree that my review isn’t worth anything–perhaps from your perspective it is and hopefully you can find what you’re looking for, or just try it out and see for yourself. With that said, when my Maverick is using the stock radio with this short antenna it does pick up stations just fine. I’m sure it’s not as strong of a signal with something longer, but again–I have no need for terrestrial radio signals in my life. That wasn’t the point of my review. Thank you for reading.
