This is your complete how-to guide for using a remote control with the HOVERAir X1 selfie drone. It will be updated over time with the latest information. Let’s fly right into how to make your X1 flying camera work like a normal drone.
While the X1 is billed as an autonomous flying selfie camera, there’s also a mode which allows you to fly the X1 manually using the app ... (more)
This is my review after spending an hour with the XPPen Mini Keydial ACK05 wireless shortcut keyboard. I got this to assist with repetitive keystrokes in a work/production environment. Unfortunately it did not work out and here’s why.
This might be an unfair review for most people because this product is designed to assist artists who mainly draw on tablets, use Photoshop, etc. But it does have quite a bit ... (more)
I don’t know why, but I love this. It’s a 27″ 1080p TV… it’s a tablet for gaming… all in a portable suitcase. It’s called the LG StanbyME Go and I think it would be great for businesses and those with an RV or living the van life! 3 hour battery life, 30W speakers, and more. It will go on sale later this month for $999, which seems pricey to ... (more)
I recently got a KVM switch which allows me to quickly switch between two computers, one being a M2 MacBook Pro. The problem is that once the monitor switches to the other computer, the Mac goes to sleep. Audio stops playing, and when switching back it takes a tap of the keyboard and mouse movement to wake it back up. It’s really annoying.
This solution doesn’t require installing any 3rd ... (more)
New toy to play with. I loved the Insta360 GO 2 so an upgrade to the newly released GO 3 was a must!
I currently own the ONE X2 and GO 2 from Insta360. Their 360 cameras are top quality, as is their software. When they announced their first-ever webcam called the Insta360 Link on August 2nd, I excitedly ordered it immediately and it arrived 6 days later directly from China.
Ok, that’s a little bit of a white lie. I actually watched all the available “influencer” reviews on YouTube (all of them ... (more)
This is how to get 5120×1440 on Samsung Odyssey G9 on Mac M1.
I have a 16GB 2020 Mac mini M1 with the Samsung Odyssey G9 ultra-wide 49″ monitor. I bought this USB-C to DisplayPort cable to get the max resolution of 5120×1440 but I had to jump through a few hoops to get there. Here’s how to do it.
These are the simple steps with macOS Big Sur 11.1:... (more)
September 20, 2018 (almost a year ago!) Amazon announced a bunch of new Alexa-enabled devices. The more “out of the box” products included a microwave oven, a wall clock that reminds me of my old classrooms when I was a kid, and the most exciting for me–“Echo Auto”. Being a car guy and loving voice assistants like Siri and Alexa, this was at the top of my “take my money ... (more)
I’ve been listening to podcasts for as long as they’ve been around. Podcasting, or “audio blogging” has been around since the 80’s. Today there are more than 115,000 available, covering pretty much any topic you can think of. The length of a podcast can range from just a couple minutes to a couple hours. But what is the best way to listen to your favorite podcasts… on iOS, specifically? After ... (more)
What is Instagram’s default video thumbnail frame?
That’s the question I asked Google and to my surprise, there were no answers. There were a lot of tutorials about how to select a frame using the Instagram app, but what if you want to “bake in” the thumbnail frame, instead of trying to select it? Instagram’s frame selector is fine for most purposes, but for longer videos it can be hard ... (more)
Tomorrow morning at exactly 8:01am PDT Apple will begin selling a new phone in a special edition (PRODUCT) RED color. But what if you just bought an iPhone 7, six months or less since it came out? What do you do? Get a red case, silly.
It’s a wise marketing tactic–mid way through a product’s lifecycle (before the new iPhone comes out in another 6 months or less, that is), ... (more)
Ever since I changed my desktop computer from a Macbook Pro to a Mac Pro, my three Apple bluetooth input devices started encountering sporadic interference issues. My wireless keyboard would often lose connection or experienced slow or lost keystrokes. And both my Magic Mouse and my Magic Trackpad would exhibit “drunken” behavior including slow or jumpy cursor movement as well as connection issues.
It got to the point where even ... (more)
I’m probably dating myself a bit here, but if you’re a fan of old computers and the terminal apps that ran on them, you should definitely check out this new Mac App which emulates them. It’s unbelievably cool.
Gizmodo has a video you can watch to see it, or you can download the App from the developer’s website and play with a free trial version.
